About Janet

1. Janet H. Song is an Oakland-based freelance writer with NJ roots.  She is available for writing and editing projects as well as project administration, both remote and on-site (locally).

Janet earned her B.A. in English Literature from Rutgers University where she won four years of tuition grants through her essay submissions. She was also the grant recipient for Rutgers’ Study Abroad in England Program, Senior Honors Thesis and was awarded membership in Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society her junior year.

Janet earned her Master of Arts degree from New York University, which she also attended free of tuition by winning their two-year Liberal Arts program grant. Janet was allowed to create her own concentration for her Master’s Thesis, a critical analysis of Gender Studies and Minority Culture in contemporary American literature. She was selected for inclusion in NYU’s first Asian American Literature Compendium where she presented a well-received paper on female Asian voices.

In addition to collegiate papers Janet has written feature articles, blogs, press releases, interviews, advertising copy, brochures, op-ed pieces and training manuals. She has performed administrative, writing, editing, sales and/or marketing duties for the following companies/organizations*:
